black lines mental ray

Inspired by 303 course i wanted to do mental ray renders for design and then this happened. Cr azy black lines would occur at the end of the rendering process. After trying many things I failed to fix the problem, according to the internet it is just a problem with 2009 which has been fixed for max 2010, i kinda thought sum looked cool so still used them in design presentation.
Might be something to look out for for next years 303 class unless using 2010 max

Thanks Matt, Sam and Jake - for making the tutorials an enjoyable as well as intense experience.
And thanks to all those whose models and renders now stand as testament to their abilities - it was a privilege to work alongside that learning curve.

Final Blog
Finished the renders and have uploaded the site. Very happy with the mental ray renders and the panorama, not pleased with lightstudio which is unfortunate but at least I have learnt some very helpful things during the process. Jason and Ants renders are pretty sweet also, we had an awesome building to work from. Definately a lot more confident with Revit than I was before and 3ds which seemed so foreign to me. If I could do it again I would do it as a summer course so I could devote all my time to it. Guess I'll just have to play around with the programs in my own time and see what they can do.

Rendering
Have been working on the renders since friday and the mental ray renders are awesome. We have used the render optimisation tutorial from pieter vanderwerff's website which has made our renders come out in less then ten minutes! Our light studio renders are average at best, with the renderer not liking our bitmapping we used the calculation method and have had to set the quality to medium just to make it not crash. Would be enjoying this more if wasnt sick and still have 331 to do.
Bitmapping
The Grand Master Ridwan showed me how to get my materials looking really good with bitmapping, bumping and displacement maps. Took a lot of trial and error but got there in
the end.

Final Renders
team gamma has been working on renders recently, we had been struggling with lightstudio for a little while as everytime we wanted to add materials the programme would crash. The Donn made an appearance in the bbsc room and provided us with information as to why it was crashing. Apparently lightstudio does not like bitmaps. so instead we were shown how to use the calculation method. After this things began running smoothly. We have currently just been tinkering with the final images.
