approval request

Our model is currently under construction, we have orientated plans, elevations and sections, and, modelled the basic structure of the ground level. Also we are pending approval. We hadnt anticipated the diffuculty in attaining plans for the design, due to its rather recent construction. In the end we had to pay and subscibe to Architecture Week for a year to get our hands on some working drawing, these are the plans they gave us after subscribing.

Peabody Essex Museum

The building was have chosen to model is the Peabody Essex Museum in Salem, Massachusetts, USA by Moshe Safdie.

With discussing between the group (Anthony, Jason, Scott) we have decided to divide it up as show in the image. Myself (yellow) and Scott (red) are doing a part of the atrium each with some of the building while Jason (blue) is going to model the remainder. This is divided up evenly by complexity, meaning the atrium has greater detail then the remainder of the building so requires more time to model.

having gained pdf images of floor plans and section from WhyArchitecture, we have been able to take these in to Adobe Illustrator and then export them to DWG format. This means that they can be brought up in all 3 CAD packages and allow floor plans to be drawn over the top once the correct scale is achieved.

Brandhorst Museum

ok Rhys and I are doing the Brandhorst Museum in Mucich, Germany, http://www.museum-brandhorst.de/en/visitor-information.html, it was designed by Sauerbruch & Hutton Architects. We will be modelling it in Revit as this is the program we both know least about therefore providing a greater challange. Unsure which spaces we will model at the moment, have all plans and photos needed to start tho so are getting underway with the modelling

Third and FINAL building change!!!!!!

Maria and I are finally satisfied with our building choice of:
- Oscar Dominguez Museum and Cultural Centre -
which is also known as: Tenerife Espacio De Las Artes (TEA).

The building is in Santa Cruz and was designed by Herzog and de Meuron.
We have all the plans, sections, elevations AND photographs we need.
The museum is part of a large complex all within the building designed by Herzog and de Meuron... we will be modelling the whole thing.

It has some interesting facade treatments which create unique penetrations of daylight - should get some great renders!
We have decided how we will be dividing it up.

We have a journal which contains the construction drawings, as well as images of a model that was made by the architects.

Full steam ahead

Jacob has done a great job of finding the plans and sections for our building. We would recommend you to email the occupants of the building you've chosen if you can: In our case, we were given full elevations/sections/plans with images of the working model.

Awes!

We have decided to use ArchiCAD and will split the building up over the weekend.

The Church of Padre Pio

Sally and I have found numerous photos and plans/elevations/sections from journal search in the library.

Also a book entirely devoted to the building.

Today we went through the drawings to try and understand how the building fits together.

We have been dicussing how we would divide the building up and have decided to start building the main elements together and then spliting up the remainder as we both become more confident with the model!

We have yet to decide on which programme to use...?

Ok we actually still want to do the original builidng we were looking at, Bigelow Chapel, http://www.hga.com/the_latest/press_releases/bigelow_chapel_011105.html
Mainly because its of a scale where we can model the entire builidng in intricate detail.

Brad and Erika here taking up the challenge of the New Museum (New York) by Kazuyo Sejima & Ryue Nishizawa / SANAA

We have also come across a book with plans and sections of the NMOCA which will hopefully help exponentially with the modeling of it. CAD program still not decided upon, though the split shouldn't be too hard, most likely we will be taking a few levels each.

More at a later date, Brad B and Erika W
