course information

BBSC 303 Digital Craft is an elective paper which "provides students with an understanding of the uses and potentials of computers as aids to building visualisation and information management" BBSC303 Digital Craft Website.

Michael Donn is the course lecturer, while Matt Fraser, Sam Curtis and Jake Osborne provide tutorial support.

The course is divided into three sections. Tutorial exercises explore the modelling qualities of AutoCAD, Revit and ArchiCAD and the rendering engines Mental Ray and Light Studio.

The second task is to select a daylit museum or place of worship which is to be modelled by two students using one of the three programmes already investigated. Then a series of daylit images is to be produced reflecting the architectural intent of the building.

Thirdly, we are to document the procedure required to create the model and renders via means of a blog and creation of a webpage.
